Netherlands head coach Louis van Gaal has confirmed that some of his players have flu-like symptoms ahead of their 2022 World Cup round of 16 match against the USA.
"Let's not talk too much about it. If a large group gets sick, it will cause us concern. 15 players don't have symptoms, but some do. In general, everyone is fit and available," van Gaal said at the pre-match press conference.
Diseases have previously been reported at the locations of the Spanish and Brazilian national teams. This may be a direct result of the powerful air conditioning systems that have been installed to maintain pitch temperatures acceptable to the players.
