Kryvbas head coach Yuriy Vernydub talks about his team's recent successes in the Ukrainian championship (yesterday in the postponed championship match, Kryvbas beat Chornomorets 1-0 and moved up to 8th place in the standings), as well as about the war.
“The most important thing is that the championship of Ukraine is taking place, and the first part of the season has already ended. In principle, Kryvbas completed the first lap on a positive note. We beat Dnepr-1, the leader, now Chornomorets, which was next to us and had a game in hand, so it had a chance to get us. I explained to the guys that today is a very important game. It was difficult to set them up, because after the victory over Dnipro-1, everyone was psychologically devastated.
But they came out and showed their character. I am satisfied with the result, we have already scored 18 points and, if I am not mistaken, we are already on the eighth line. There is more to work on. Now let the team rest, take a breath. We hope that during this time our guys, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, will drive the Russian freaks out even further. And we will already work well at the training camp. But everything will depend on the situation in Ukraine.
I did not expect that I would return to work as a coach. At that time, I served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. But the president of Kryvbas Konstantin Karamanits offered to accept the team. He really helped us, our combat unit, helped like no other. Only he. I had friends, non-poor people, but somehow they disappeared somewhere right away. Yes, I work in football now, but every day I think about my brothers and help them in any way I can.
Gotta get through this. I am completely sure that victory will be ours. I understand who we are at war with. These are sick people who have no brains," Vernydub said after the match against Chornomorets.
