It became known what sanctions may be imposed on the defender of the Uruguay national team Jose Maria Jimenez for elbowing the director of FIFA after the match of the group stage of the 2022 World Cup against the Ghana national team (2:0). The punishment will depend on the information recorded in the referee's report and in the FIFA competition director's report.
If it is confirmed that Jimenez's elbow is included in the minutes or report, the player will be subject to sanctions that could reach a 15-match ban (according to Article 12 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code), provided that FIFA's Colin Smith is considered a match official.
If he is not considered a match official, the suspension may be reduced to three matches. The player can also be suspended for four matches and fined 20,000 Swiss francs for shouting at the referees, reports Mundo Deportivo.
