“FC Dnepr and SC Dnepr-1 are absolutely two different legal entities”: Stetsenko surprised by collision with UEFA

Andrey Stetsenko, General Director of Dnepr, commented on the heated discussion about Dnepr-1 IC.

Andrey Stetsenko

- Andriy Viktorovich, can you comment on the information about the complaint that was allegedly filed with UEFA and FIFA about the fact that SC "Dnepr-1" is the successor of FC "Dnepr"?

- This is the first time I hear about it. Therefore, I cannot comment on this.

- And yet, you, as the general director of FC Dnepr, can answer the question. Is SC Dnepr-1 the receiver of FC?

- Of course not. FC Dnepr and SC Dnepr-1 are two completely different legal entities. If you look into the history of the two clubs, you can see that in the 2017/18 season. both clubs played in the same league and even competed with each other. According to the results of that championship, SC Dnepr-1 moved up a class [from the Second to the First League of the PFL]. As for FC Dnipro, the team spent its last season in the Ukrainian Championship tournament among amateurs.

- That is, there can be no question of any succession of teams?

- Definitely. How could one team be divided into two parts and play in the same tournament in parallel? Once again: SC Dnepr-1 and FC Dnepr are two different legal entities, with all the ensuing consequences. Therefore, if a complaint is received, let them figure out what and how.

- When there were two teams, they lived and trained at the same base, played at the same stadium...

- And what's wrong with that? It's just that SC "Dnepr-1" rented a base and a stadium.

- Miron Markevich in an interview recalled that FC Dnipro owed him a salary for a year, and 30 more former players of the team...

- So we do not deny it. Debts, as they were, are the way they are, including to Markevich. Correctly Miron Bogdanovich says. Where he got the specific figure of 30 players, I can’t say. Yes, this is not fundamental. The main thing is that we do not refuse these debts.

- There was information in the press that the stadium and the suburban base were going to be put up for auction at the beginning of next year. What do you know about it?

— I learned about it from the press. The training base and the Dnipro Arena are the property of Privatbank, which is state property due to nationalization. What prompted the state to put these two objects up for auction, I have no idea.
