Victor Kashshai: "We don't know what refereeing will be like in 2050"

Hungarian referee Viktor Kasshai, who is currently serving in the Bulgarian Football Union, spoke about the technical aspects of refereeing at the 2022 World Cup.

Victor Kashshai

— The introduction of VAR has become a real revolution in football and refereeing. Compared to this, whether we will make any more adjustments does not seem to be something unusual. Like the world around us, football is constantly changing. Technological progress obviously brings with it constant innovation, but there have been epochal changes to the rules before.

Thirty years ago, no one could have imagined that GPS radars would be used to analyze players from the bench during matches, or that television viewers would be able to watch events from a drone camera. Also, today we cannot know what football and the refereeing system will be like in, say, 2050,” said the Hungarian.
