Roma coach José Mourinho turned down an offer from the Portuguese Football Federation to lead the national team, according to Jornal de Notícias.
The specialist decided to concentrate on working at the club and does not want to leave the team until the end of his contract, which expires in the summer of 2024.
Portuguese officials will not rush to find a replacement for Mourinho, who was considered a priority candidate. The national team will play the next matches in March, so it is quite possible that Ruy Jorge, coach of the U-21 team, will become the interim coach.
