Mbappe: "There is no reason for my club to pay for the defeat of my national team"

PSG forward Kylian Mbappe has explained his quick return to the club after the 2022 World Cup final with France. While most players took a well-deserved break before returning to club football, the 24-year-old forward joined Parisians training three days after losing the final to Argentina (3:3, pen. 2:4).

"I will never accept this defeat. As I told the coach and my teammates, there is no reason for my club to pay for my national team's defeat. These are two different situations," Get French Football News quoted the 24-year-old as saying.

In the match of the 16th round of the French championship, PSG beat "Strasbourg" (2:1) in stoppage time thanks to the executed penalty by Mbappe at 90+5 minutes.
