Metalist forward Ruslan Fomin, in an interview with Profootball, shared his memories of the incident with Alexander Aliev at the 2006 European Championship (U-21).
“Kolya Ishchenko had a son. There was a meeting in the morning, Sanya Aliyev put on glasses, a baseball cap, and was walking with a bag. It was evident that the night was a success. Mikhailichenko calls him up and says: "Sasha, what's the matter with you?" He answers: "Sanych, everything is fine." And at that moment he says to him: "Pack your things and go home." Aliyev said: "Good." Didn't say a word, took the bag and went.
We are sitting on the bus, we are already leaving for the airport, and Aliyev took a bag and went home. And we: Ishchenko, Milevsky, me, Rybka began to "harness for the Kent." Kolya Ishchenko said that his son was born and he showed up, it was his fault. And we supported everyone, they said that we were sitting with the whole team, he was not himself.
Mikhailichenko asked: "Do you take responsibility?" We said: "Yes, we were wrong, it was a team gathering." Mikhailichenko told him to call. Aliyev returned and said: “Sanych, you will still be in the final,” Fomin said.
Может именно потому не хватило сил на Финал, набрались карточек и пролетели.
