In Iran, a football player previously sentenced to death was sentenced to 16 years in prison

Iranian football player Amir Reza Nasr Azadani received a prison term for allegedly participating in the killing of three security forces during anti-government protests, Sky News reports.

26-year-old Nasr Azdani was sentenced to death for "propaganda of war against God", but after he confessed, the sentence was commuted to 16 years in prison.

Amnesty International believes that the trial was unfair and the player was forced to confess.
