Dynamo President Igor Surkis revealed the details of the agreement with the club's legend, Alexander Shovkovsky.
Igor Surkis- Igor Mikhailovich, tell us, who came up with the idea to invite Alexander Shovkovsky to Dynamo?
- Given that Vukoevich left Dynamo for family reasons, the question arose that it was necessary to strengthen the coaching staff with an assistant for Mircea Lucescu. Mister gave the green light to the invitation of the legend of our club Alexander Shovkovsky. I was unspeakably happy about it.
After that, he phoned Oleksandr and offered him a job at Dynamo Kiev. He agreed. On January 12, he begins his duties.
- What duties will Shovkovsky have at Dynamo?
- He will be Mircea Lucescu's assistant. Previously, old stars worked for us, and now two young ones are Oleg Gusev and Alexander Shovkovsky. I am very glad that they are reunited again. These guys have done a lot for Dynamo. Glorious victories of our club are associated with their names. Now they will learn the art of coaching from Lucescu.
- You speak very warmly about Oleg Gusev and Alexander Shovkovsky. Do you think that in the future they can become a tandem of Dynamo head coaches?
- So far, I'm not even considering this issue. Dynamo has a head coach whom I fully trust. As for the future, everything will depend on their work and how they will develop and see football. Who would have thought that Rebrov would be the head coach of Dynamo when he was Blokhin's assistant.
After Blokhin left, Rebrov was the acting head coach, but over the five games he played, he showed that he has a well-developed football mindset and sees modern football progressively. Therefore, we entered into a three-year agreement with him, and he won the championship twice.
- How long is the contract with Shovkovsky?
— We will sign an agreement with Oleksandr by July 2024, just like with Lucescu. Let it work. His agreement will absolutely not depend on how long Mister will work at Dynamo. Sasha is a young guy and he should have a perspective in his coaching career.
- Has Shovkovsky already ended his cooperation with the UAF?
- As far as I know, his contract with the UAF ended, and he took his work book from there. But if in the future he receives an offer from the Ukrainian national team to be an assistant coach there, then we will not object to him combining positions.
He discussed this moment with me, and I assured him that I would not mind. We are ready to provide everything that is needed for the main national team of the country.
- Shovkovsky, by any chance, did not say that Rebrov would definitely lead the Ukrainian national team?
- I do not know. I am only responsible for the equipment of Dynamo Kyiv, completely different people are responsible for the national team. I did not talk to Shovkovsky on this subject. Moreover, it is not correct to talk about Rebrov, who has a valid contract with Al-Ain and fulfills it. I do not influence who will be the head coach of the national team, and no one consults with me on this subject.
I hope that there are competent people who will decide on the appointment of the head coach of the national team. And the sooner this is done, the calmer it will be for the Ukrainian team so that it does not get stormed, as it has been for the past two years.
