Midfielder of the Ukrainian national team Ruslan Malinovsky commented on his decision to move from the Italian Atalanta to the French Marseille.
“I immediately said yes and didn’t hesitate for a second when the Marseille option came up. The most concrete proposal came from this club, I had no doubts.
There was talk about interest in me in England, but no specifics in this case followed. And I could have ended up in Marseille as early as August. Therefore, by the way, since then I have been following the team closely, and I can say that I really like the football they play.
Coming here is a big step forward in my career. And it is important for me that Marseille is a team that wants to win trophies. I am 29 years old, but I can still progress, I have not yet reached the peak of my career.
As for my role on the field, in the Ukrainian national team I play in midfield, and in Atalanta I had a more attacking role, I played in conjunction with two midfielders to support the striker. In general, I can play everywhere, it depends on what the coach wants from me. I am satisfied with any role. But, of course, I like to play as close to the attack as possible, I like to attack from the depth.
With the coaching handwriting of Igor Tudor (head coach of Marseille, - ed.) I am well acquainted. In Italy, it was always difficult to play against his Verona. The game that this specialist is building is very suitable for me, I like his dynamic football - this is the football that I like, ”said Malinovsky during a press conference at which he was introduced as a Marseille player.
