Manchester City's French defender Benjamin Mendy has been found not guilty of six counts of rape, the Daily Mail reports.
After a six-month trial at Chester Crown Court, the 28-year-old footballer was cleared of six counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. The jury was unable to reach a majority verdict on one count of rape and one count of attempted rape, meaning a second trial will be held on the remaining counts.
It will be recalled that Manchester City suspended Mendy in August 2021 after the first accusation was made against him.
