Boris Ignatiev: "Ukrainian football players are more qualified than Russian ones"

The well-known Russian coach Boris Ignatiev, who, among other things, has experience in Dynamo Kiev (in the coaching staff of Yuri Semin), spoke on the transfer of Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Mikhail Mudrik to Chelsea London for 100 million euros.

Boris Ignatiev

“Mudrik’s transfer for a high price is either some speculative moments, which are enough in football, or they really tracked him for a long time and he is really worth the money. At the same time, there are many cases when money went not for a product, but for a deal. Therefore, I don’t think that Mudrik, in terms of his playing qualities, comes close to such great football players as Messi or someone else.

I myself am confused by such a sum, but I can’t give a definite answer, because I can’t figure out where such figures come from in our football. Ordinary football players, and huge amounts are paid for them, then it turns out that this is a scam.

In general, I worked in Ukrainian football and I can say that their players are more qualified than ours. At least there were when Semin and I worked at Dynamo Kyiv and saw that the players there were higher in terms of training than our players. Everything is due to the training process, and all the problems that are going on in our football now are due to training. We need to delve into the amount of training time in more detail, set goals, understand why we train. This question will help us move our football at a time when there are no international games and we need to look at our players, ”Metaratings quoted Ignatiev as saying.
