Former Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard, who now plays for Nottingham Forest, has admitted to drinking alcohol.
“I drank alcohol before bed. Now I look back and think: “Why did I do this?” But I needed something that could relieve the pain and somehow calm me down. I tried to forget what was happening, but alcohol made it 10 times worse. I was completely depressed, and I needed to play. I've been through things that you don't even suspect. I felt like I was carrying the weight of the world on my shoulders,” Lingard said on Sky Sports.
