Former head coach of FC Karpaty Lviv Pavel Kucherov told an interesting story related to the ex-forward of Dynamo Brown Ideye.
- I brought it to Willem II for viewing, but they didn’t take it there. I noticed Ideye when he played for the Nigerian national team at the World Youth Championship in Canada. I was impressed by its qualities. He is strong in the end, in the game in the penalty area, confidently uses his head.
Then he was on viewing at Feyenoord, and I watched him from the bushes so that they would not notice me. The idea did not suit them, and I invited him to "Willem II". For this team, he would have been an ideal player, but, unfortunately, the coaches did not like him. I was told that it cannot play in a small space and, in general, is made of wood. I say yes! Because he is from Africa, they simply didn’t teach him this, he played football barefoot. But he can score and bring results." Didn't convince me!
Brown trained with us for a week, and then left for Switzerland. When we met in Ukraine, he "avenged" me for the failed transfer to Willem II - he scored in the 95th minute of the Dynamo - Karpaty match, - Kucherov said fanday.
