“Another letter of appeal to prevent Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in international competitions while the Russian military aggression against Ukraine continues. Together with the Minister of Sports and Tourism of Poland, Kamil Bortnichuk, we addressed UEFA President A. Čeferin about our common position against the idea of allowing Russian clubs and the national team to return to participation in international competitions.

Relevant work is carried out every day so that at the international level we do not see the flags of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus. I meet and call on our national federations to join this work and communicate with international colleagues so that the recommendations of the IOC, approved at the beginning of the war in Ukraine, are further implemented. Recently, I signed the corresponding letters to the National Olympic Committees of more than 200 countries,” Gutzeit wrote.
