The restoration of the X-ray diagnostic department of Chernihiv City Hospital No. 3, which became the first joint project of FC Dynamo Kyiv and UNITED24 to restore medical infrastructure, is underway.
Within the framework of the cooperation memorandum, Dynamo FC Kyiv transferred 10.2 million hryvnias to the UNITED24 fundraising platform, collected thanks to the charity match with Everton, which took place on July 29 in Liverpool. The funds are intended for the reconstruction of the X-ray diagnostic building of the Chernihiv City Hospital No. 3, which was destroyed by Russian shelling last year.
Chernihiv region and, in particular, its regional center became one of the regions that received the first enemy attack and are still recovering from significant destruction. At the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, Chernihiv was under continuous artillery fire and aerial bombardment for more than a month, as a result of which the city suffered both irreparable human losses and large-scale destruction of civilian infrastructure - schools, kindergartens, hospitals, sports facilities and residential buildings.
There is not a single hospital in Chernihiv that was not affected by Russian aggression, and one of the critical facilities for the city that was seriously damaged as a result of Russian bombings was Chernihiv City Hospital No. 3. During the active hostilities in the region, the hospital was fully functional, daily saved injured patients and performed necessary operations.
On March 13, enemy artillery shelling completely destroyed the X-ray diagnostic complex of the hospital, along with expensive equipment - a computed tomography machine, an X-ray machine and a photo laboratory. The department played a key role in the work of the entire medical institution - it was used both by patients of the hospital and other medical institutions from all over Chernihiv and the region. Therefore, the restoration of the X-ray unit, despite the extent of the destruction, was critically necessary for local residents.
Work on the restoration of the building of the X-ray building began in November of last year, and it is planned to be completed by March 30 of this year. Thanks to the allocated funds, the internal and external capital walls of the department have already been erected and the roof has been restored, windows and doors have been installed, utilities have been laid, and interior decoration work is ongoing.
"After the end of the period of active hostilities, the question of restoring the hospital arose. We were allocated funds from the central and local budgets to replace the damaged windows and doors of the medical facility. It remained a problem to restore the X-ray department, which requires significant financial costs. When the UNITED24 platform became operational, FC Dynamo Kyiv transferred 10.2 million hryvnias collected during the charity match to the benefit of our hospital.
Procedures for the production of design and estimate documentation, expertise and tender procedures were carried out. The contractor of the works, the Dioro company, works according to the agreed construction work schedules. We were allocated 5.4 million hryvnias for this project, and negotiations are already underway with the Ministry of Health so that the remaining funds from the total amount transferred to FC "Dynamo" Kyiv, namely 4.8 million hryvnias, will go to the second procurement procedure.
On behalf of our team and all citizens, I want to thank FC "Dynamo" Kyiv for such essential help and support. I think that soon we will see the results of philanthropy on the example of our restored X-ray diagnostic department," said Viktor Yangol, general director of Chernihiv City Hospital No. 3.
At the second stage of construction works, it is planned to restore the entrance group and repair the second part of the roof damaged by projectile fragments. After the complete restoration of the building of the X-ray diagnostic block, the hospital management hopes to replace the destroyed expensive equipment - a machine for performing tomography, after which patients from all over Chernihiv will once again be able to undergo X-ray examinations in comfortable conditions and receive high-quality diagnostics.
