On a scorching hot day, the two teams faced a big threat. In the 16th minute, a yellow card was issued to Osasuna player A. Ezzalzuli for a foul. Shortly thereafter, in the 29th minute, another yellow card was shown to M. Gomez from Osasuna. In the 39th minute, Espanyol was replaced when K. Montes replaced S. Gomez on the field. A minute before the break, Osasuna player A. Budimir scored the decisive goal. Shortly after the goal, another yellow card was awarded to Espanyol's R. Pierre-Gabriel for unsportsmanlike conduct. Unfortunately for Osasuna, this was soon followed by a red card issued by A. Ezzalzouli, leaving them one man short. At this point there was a sudden frenzy of substitutions from both sides, with L. Torro coming on for Osasuna in the 46th minute and A. Vidal being simultaneously replaced by R. Sánchez at Espanyol. Later, Osasuna made their own substitution in the 58th minute, and C. Avila took the place of R. Garcia. A minute later, however, Espanyol managed to make the most of the extra man when M. Braithwaite equalized. This was followed by two more substitutions for Espanyol: F. Calero replaced D. Suarez, and N. Melamed took the place of H. Gragera. In the 67th minute, Osasuna also made a substitution, when A. Budimir replaced C. Garcia. For Espanyol, the hope of winning remained until the 76th minute, when M. Braithwaite was replaced by Exposito. Immediately afterwards, in the 78th minute, J. Moncayola of Osasuna received a yellow card as the match ended in a 1–1 draw.
