Andrey Nedelin, Executive Director of Metalist 1925, told how the earthquakes in Turkey affected the team's training camp, which is taking place in this country.
“We express our sympathy and support to the families of the victims and wish the fastest possible recovery to all those affected by the large-scale earthquake.
A terrible tragedy. Now we are experiencing and praying not so much for ourselves, but for those people who suffered as a result of this tragedy. Once again, everyone was convinced how helpless humanity is against natural disasters.
Naturally, the team woke up, feeling the tremors, it lasted two or three minutes. In such a short period of time, in the dead of night, it was difficult to react with lightning speed. Neither we nor the others living in the hotel had time to get dressed, to run out into the street, in other words, to evacuate, they had no opportunity. Everything happened quickly.
In these 240 seconds, everyone inside himself experienced a stormy range of sensations, taking into account the fact that the epicenter of the earthquake was about 500 km away from us. The walls of the hotel, shall we say, were shaking. The range of fluctuations, as the guys said in the morning before training, depended on the floor on which the number is located - the higher, the more strongly it was felt.
However, fear did not bind anyone, the work continued. In the morning, as planned, everyone went to training. We are in constant contact with the organizers of the camp. Unlike official competitions, the Turkish side has not yet spoken about adjusting the schedule of test matches (All today's and upcoming matches of the Turkish Championship in all divisions have been postponed - ed.).
The tragedy, of course, is terrible, the losses are irreparable. Once again, we offer our condolences to the Turkish people, relatives and friends of the victims," Nedelin said.
