The Ukrainian Football Association sent a letter to the address of the president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, Luis Rubiales, with a request to investigate the incident that occurred in the match between FC Deportivo and FC Rayo Mahadaonda, and to take measures.
"We are concerned about the incident that happened in the RFEF Primera Division (20th round match between Deportivo FC and Rayo Mahadaonda FC"), namely, the offensive shouts not only from the fan sector, but also from ordinary fans, on such as "Putin will defeat you!", "We are for Putin!", "Zozulya is a Nazi!" (referring to Rayo Makhadaonda striker Roman Zozulya of Ukrainian origin), which led to the stoppage of the game for one and a half minutes by the main referee of the match.
In October 2022, PACE became the first international organization to recognize Russia as a terrorist state. The NATO Parliamentary Assembly recognized the Russian Federation and its regime as terrorists, and this resolution, which also calls for the creation of a special tribunal to hold the regime accountable for horrific war crimes, was symbolically adopted unanimously in Madrid. A number of parliaments of European countries, such as Poland, the Czech Republic, and Estonia, did the same.
The whole civilized world understands the essence of the processes and supports Ukraine. Spain as a country has also supported our state since the first days of the war, and we appreciate it very much.
We are bringing this case to your attention with an urgent request to investigate and take measures, such as disciplinary sanctions, as severe as the relevant provisions of the regulations provide," the letter said in particular.
