Yevgeny Seleznyov had the idea of holding a farewell match against Shakhtar Donetsk, journalist Ihor Semyon reported.
"Yevgen Seleznev has started training at coaching courses - this is open information from the football player himself. In fact, this means the end of an active playing career, but the finish is not officially announced due to the hypothetical possibility of a farewell match in particular.
The idea of such a farewell match was hatched by Seleznev (and his closest entourage) in 2022. "Minai" was supposed to play at home with "Shakhtar" in the 9th round of UPL (base date - October 22), but the game was postponed due to the busy schedule of "miners" with Champions League matches. The clubs were in talks to play until the end of the 2022 calendar year.
The idea was for Seleznev to come out at least for a few minutes and say goodbye to football in a match against his former hometown team. But there were two conditions:
1) the match was supposed to take place in 2022 (while Seleznev had a contract with Minaj);
2) it was necessary to repair the relationship with the trainer, which was broken due to the known incident.
None of these conditions were fulfilled. The match against Shakhtar was postponed to 2023, Seleznev never found an understanding with Sharan. The idea died at the embryonic stage," the journalist wrote in Telegram.
