Luis Castro: "A year of shame. A year of terror. A year of suffering. A year of rot in the world"

"A year ago, I wrote: "Stop the war" with the confidence that world leaders would be able to put an end to this humanitarian disaster. Unfortunately, I was wrong.

Innocent lives are at stake. Helpless people. People who have lost their lives to terror and many more who live in fear, shame and trauma from which they will never recover. All this because of selfishness, pure cruelty and terrorism. I thought that, faced with such a reality, we would not find ourselves in it. Unfortunately, I was wrong.

It takes a lot of courage to watch this and do a little more than just cross your arms. It seems that you can keep watching the daily explosions; it seems that you can see families torn apart, houses blown up, in short, the daily horror and keep watching. I thought that world leaders would not be able to. Unfortunately, I was wrong.

A year of shame. A year of misery. A year of terror. A year of suffering. A year of selfishness. A year of rot in the world.

Today, a year later, with a much more destitute, much sadder heart, I am still reviving my hope: stop the war. Ukraine is in my heart forever," Kashtru wrote.
