Football club Kryvbas has issued an official statement regarding Joma.
"It was an unpleasant surprise for us, as well as for the entire Ukrainian football community, that JOMA was seen working with a club representing the country of 404. Earlier, there was a similar situation with another club, but then representatives of the Spanish brand assured that there were no official contracts. At that time, the equipment was basic and was purchased in other countries, but this time the situation looks completely different.
We have made an official request to the JOMA representative in Ukraine and expect them to take a clear position and completely withdraw from the market of the aggressor country. For the period of consideration of this situation, FC Kryvbas suspends the fulfillment of all advertising obligations specified in the contract.
Why can't we completely stop using JOMA equipment now, as some Ukrainian clubs have announced? This is not possible at the moment, and such statements are more hype and populism.
For example, here is the amount of equipment required for the functioning of all club teams and the Academy:
- As of March 2023, the men's team of FC Kryvbas uses 53 types of equipment. The players, coaches and staff are more than 50 people, so it turns out to be about 3000 units per team.
- The women's team has 49 types of JOMA equipment, which is about 2000 units.
- The Kryvbas U-19 team has 30 varieties, which is more than 1000 units.
- The Kryvbas Football Academy consists of 500 children, each of whom has at least 10 pieces, and all of them have more than 5000 pieces of equipment.
Given the ongoing war in our country, there are currently logistical problems, and an order of this size has to wait at least 5-6 months for any manufacturer. We're not even talking about the production and application of logos, numbers and other marks on club equipment. Therefore, it will be possible to completely change the technical partner no earlier than six months later, before the start of the 2023/24 season.
We emphasize once again: we expect a clear position from the management of JOMA in the near future, and a complete withdrawal from the market of the aggressor country. Otherwise, we will be forced to look for a new technical partner.
Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the Armed Forces!" the statement reads.
