The head coach of the youth national team of Ukraine U-17 Yuriy Moroz, who previously worked as a mentor of the youth team of Kyiv "Dynamo" (U-19), shared his thoughts on the Dynamo talents who are already playing in adult football and, in particular, in the first team of "Dynamo".
— In the fall of 2016, Dynamo U-19 made a splash in the UEFA Youth League. They beat "Benfica", "Napoli" twice. There was only one draw in six matches. What was the strength of that team?
— In the players. Every football player devoted himself to the game. Shaparenko, Lednev, Buletsa, Mykolenko, Popov, Rusyn, Vantukh, Dubinchak - you name it, everyone plays. Each of them has not only talent, but also character.
— What happened in the first playoff match against Ajax?
— I would not like to mention. This is already history. Many conclusions have already been drawn in this regard. We move on.
— One of the main talents of that team was Akhmed Alibekov. Why did he never reveal himself?
— Alibekov is a really talented player. He played for me both in the support zone and in the center of defense. Perhaps Ahmed is not in good health. As soon as it starts, problems begin. A very good player, intelligent, versatile. He has character. But something prevents him.
— Is Vladislav Vanat ready to become the main forward?
- So. Fast, smart, technical player. Can solve the moment with good implementation. I hope it will only progress and add to it.
— You worked for a long time in the Dynamo system. Then they led "Chornomorets". Now they are back in youth football. Don't you think this is a step backwards in your professional career?
- No. For me, the main thing is to be needed by Ukrainian football, to bring benefit. If it can be done at the youth level, why not? I am not afraid of work.
— Many of your pupils play for the Dynamo first team, there are enough players in other UPL clubs as well. What is the secret of your work with youth?
- Labor. It is not easy to work with young guys. You see him as a football player. You demand, you encourage. But the formation process is very difficult and long. It requires daily work on yourself and patience.
Every coach in the UPL wants to have experienced, best footballers. But young people also need to be trusted. Every mentor is pleased when his students succeed. This is recognition of the work of the coach.
