Ukraine may be excluded from a joint bid with Spain and Portugal to host the finals of the World Cup 2030, reports The Athletic.
According to the source, such a disappointing outcome for the Ukrainians may lead to two factors. First: the doubts of Spain and Portugal that, given the course of the war, Ukraine has time to recover to the level needed for the country to hold the World Cup in 2030. The second: the uncertainty with the future of the UAF, given that the president of the organization Andriy Pavelko is under investigation in several corruption cases.
It is also reported that the replacement of Ukraine in the joint bid for the World Cup 2030 is Morocco. The choice of this country is due to its geographical proximity to Spain and Portugal.
Recall the place of the final part of World Cup 2030 will be determined in 2024. It is expected that in addition to the joint bid of Ukraine, Spain and Portugal, FIFA will receive two more applications (also joint) to host the World Cup: the first - from Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay and Chile, and the second - from Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Greece.
