Column by Alexander Lipenko. Rushing with the speed of death

We continue to talk about famous Dynamo players of different generations. Today, friends, your attention is focused on the magnificent midfielder of the Bilo-Syni Andriy Gusin.

Andrey Gusin

On September 17, 2014, Andrei rode his motorcycle onto the circular track of the famous "Chaika" autodrome in the capital. He accelerated on his iron horse, raced at the speed of death, did not fit into a sharp turn - and an absurd death caught up with him...

The father of two sons and a daughter, a wonderful husband, a caring son, a great man, a great lover of life, a great player, the fan favorite left this world at the age of 42.

Gusin played 170 games in the championships of Ukraine. He is a seven-time gold medalist, four-time Cup winner. He played 71 games for the national team, participated in the 2006 World Cup in Germany. He played 66 games for Dynamo Kyiv in European Cup tournaments. After his playing career he worked as a coach in the Dynamo club.

Gusin always had his right foot on the pitch. "The goal that made me a man and a soccer player, I scored for Dynamo 2 at Olimpiyskiy in late 1996. I was not in the main roster at the time, and Lobanovsky came to the double match. He saw how I outplayed some people from the center of the pitch and shot past the goalkeeper, and then said to the people around him: "You are looking for defensive midfielder, and you already have one!

He couldn't go without adrenaline. He liked to drive his cars fast, go scuba diving, ride a jet ski, ride roller coasters. He also loved to surprise his beloved wife, Christina. Once, on her birthday, he placed a big-board with congratulations near her house. On his wife's next birthday, the words of congratulations appeared on the wall of the house: "With you, I forget about the ball".

In 1998, a friend of the Gusins' friend had Ukraine's first modern Volkswagen Beetle on display, which cost a lot of money. "Do you like it?" - Andrew asked his wife. - "Very much!" - she answered hopefully. - "Sorry, we can't buy this car..." After a while, the Gusins came to a concert at the Palace of Ukraine. Coming out afterwards, Kristina spluttered: "Oh, the same car, someone bought it!" And in response she heard: "Here are the keys, it's yours!"

In 2009 Gusin together with choreographer Antonina Kravets took part in the project "I dance for you" in order to pay for the training of three young skaters in case of winning in the show. At the first meeting the player amazed his partner with his sense of humor, giving her an axe with the words: "Tonya, I am a log. And you - Papa Carlo, who must make me, a tree, Pinocchio.

Kristina and Andriy are from Lviv. The coaches of "Dynamo" only let Andriy go for one day to his own wedding in Lviv. The celebration was on Sunday, and on Monday at 6:30 Andriy left for Kyiv and at 11:00 was at the training led by Valeriy Lobanovskiy.

Gusin grew up in a sports family. His mother Valentina Vasilievna successfully competed in the pentathlon, his father Leonid Vasilievich specialized in sprints and high jump.

Dad taught his son gymnastics classes in school, and his mother coached him in the athletics section. The future soccer player ran the distance in 11.4 seconds. And in the high jump section with a height of 172 cm he cleared the bar at a height of 175 cm.

Igor Surkis, president of Dynamo: "Andriy was the heart of our club and the Ukrainian national team at all times. And, of course, a citizen of our country and a patriot. What happened I can`t understand...".

Alexey Mochanov, multiple champion of Ukraine in motorsports: "Andrei was a big fan and lover of sports cars, was engaged in karting. Recently, he suddenly became interested in a motorcycle, but... It makes no sense to say that at that turn their ways parted: it is much more important to say a kind word about the soccer player and the man of light in every sense of the word, just as he was. I think that all the people he talked to became his friends.

Andrei Gusin is buried in Baikove cemetery. Nearby there are the graves of Andrei Bal and Valentin Belkevich. All three left this soccer world with a difference of 48 days... There is also a grave of Viktor Chanov, not far from it - the graves of Viktor Matvienko, Vitaly Khmelnitsky, Valery Zuev... Next to his teammates in heaven rests their great coach Valeriy Lobanovskiy.
