"Veres appealed to the UAF with a proposal to change the deadlines for applying for the use of the VAR system

"Veres appealed to the Ukrainian Football Association and the Ukrainian Premier League with a proposal to amend the Regulations on the Procedure for the Use of the VAR System to reduce the deadline for applying for the use of such a system at a particular match from 14 to 7 days.

- After the Ukrainian championship match against Vorskla Poltava, when a goal was scored after the ball had left the field, the club seriously considered applying for the use of the video replay system. And we realized that, purely procedurally, we could not always exercise our right to submit such an application.

According to the Regulations, in order to play a match using the VAR system, a club must send a corresponding application to the UPL no later than 14 days before the match. And this is where an objective difficulty arises - sometimes an application cannot be submitted in compliance with these deadlines, purely technically. The Regulations contain the concept of a base day - "the main day of the tour set by the competition calendar". According to Article 9, paragraph 11, "the dates and time of the matches shall be determined by the Directorate no later than 12 days before the base date of the tour." This creates a conflict: a UPL club can find out the date of an official match 12 days before the match, while the VAR application must be submitted 14 days before the match, which makes it legally impossible to submit the application on time.

Therefore, we propose to consider and approve at a meeting of the UAF Executive Committee amendments to the Regulations and set a deadline for filing an application of seven (7) days before the match," Veres CEO Anton Nazaruk told the information service.
