The head coach of the Armenian national team Aleksandr Petrakov told that he tried to bring Henrikh Mkhitaryan back to the team before the Euro 2024 qualification match against Turkey.
Alexander Petrakov - I have been trying to personally contact Henrikh Mkhitaryan since the very first day of my arrival in Armenia. At first, I could not, then I asked his teammates Pyatov and Stepanenko about him. I was told by various sources that Henrikh was reluctant and would stick to his decision.
I asked my assistant Roman Berezovskiy to contact him and understand his position, but Mkhitaryan also told Berezovskiy that he had already made up his mind. I was ready to go to Milan and talk to Henrikh, but he refused. Mkhitaryan's decision should be respected. He's an exceptional footballer," Petrakov was quoted as saying by Radar.
