Matvienko will sign a new contract with Shakhtar, which will be valid until the summer of 2028

Shakhtar Donetsk defender Nikolai Matvienko will soon extend his contract with his club, according to famous Italian insider Fabrizio Romano.

According to the source, the sides are close to reaching such an agreement. It is expected that the 26-year-old's new agreement with the Pitmen will run until June 2028. Matvienko's current contract with Shakhtar expires in 2025.

Romano also recalled that last winter "Shakhtar" refused to sell Matvienko to the English Brighton for 20 million euros, and now he wants to earn at least 30 million euros on the transfer of the defender. The insider expects that in the summer several English clubs will negotiate with Shakhtar over Matvienko.
