Sports doctor Dmytro Babeliuk commented on the situation with the recovery of Bournemouth defender Ilya Zabarnyi from injury.
"Will Zabarnyi help the Ukrainian national team at Wembley? An interesting situation is unfolding around Ilya Zabarny. The Bournemouth coach confirmed that he will be able to count on the player after the break for international matches. Today he is close to returning, but not yet ready.
As we know, Ilya is on Rotan's list, but the defender has not played a single match in the last 3 months, recovering from an ankle injury. It is interesting what decision the medical staffs of both teams (national team and club) will make regarding the player's participation in training and the national team game.
It is very rare for a club to allow the first game after an injury to be played for the national team, and not at their club under the supervision of doctors. Sometimes this point is even spelled out in the contract, as in the case of Yarmolenko, who, under the terms of his contract, was supposed to play his first game after rupturing his Achilles for West Ham, not the national team.
It will be very strange if Ilya does play for the national team without playing a single match for his new club, but given the staff shortage in the national team, we are unlikely to be surprised by this development," Babeliuk wrote on his Telegram channel.
