The 39-year-old striker decided to hang up his boots at Togolese club Semmas, joining the club in July 2021.

"From ups to downs, my career as a professional athlete has been an incredible journey. Thank you to my fans for being by my side every step of the way. I feel so grateful for everything and excited for what's to come," Adebayor wrote on his Instagram page.

It will be recalled that Adebayor joined Monaco in 2003 and became one of the best young forwards in Europe before moving to the Premier League in 2006, where he played for Arsenal. Then there were Manchester City, Real Madrid, Tottenham and Crystal Palace.
