Last Wednesday, March 22, the Ukrainian U-19 national team (players not older than 2004) started playing in the elite round of the Euro 2023 (U-19) qualifiers with a match against Luxembourg.
Serhiy Nagornyak's wards gathered on March 19, flew from Budapest to Spain on the morning of the 20th, and held a pre-game training session on the 21st. In the Pyrenees, our players will face the tournament hosts, as well as the national teams of Luxembourg and Denmark.

The Ukrainians managed to open the scoring in the 12th minute - Gorbach scored from Buleza's pass. However, the opponents soon got back into the game after Elshan's well-placed shot. Then both teams created chances, but failed to change the score before the break.
In the 59th minute, the Ukrainians found themselves in a difficult position as Elshan scored a double. Sergiy Nagornyak reacted with four substitutions at once, but our guys failed to change the course of the match. In overtime, both teams were left with ten men.
As a result, the youth national team of Ukraine began its performance in the elite round of selection with a defeat - 1-2. Our team will play its next match on March 25 against Denmark, which in the first round drew with Spain 0-0.
