Former Atletico Madrid defender Šime Vrsaljko has officially announced his retirement, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
According to an insider, Šime Vrsaljko has long defended the colors of the Croatian national team, he was one of the players who won silver at the 2018 World Cup. However, before the start of that World Cup, Vrsaljko had problems with his knee. This injury turned into a real tragedy for the player.
After the World Cup, the Croatian moved from Atletico Madrid to Inter Milan, returned a year later and stayed in Madrid until the summer of 2022. After that, Šime moved to Olympiacos, where he finally realized that his future career would be a living hell. His knee pain was becoming more frequent and unpleasant. Realizing that he would not be able to return to his previous level, Vrsaljko decided to end his career as a player and, apparently, take up managerial work.
It will be recalled that during his career, Šimo Vrsaljko defended the colors of Dinamo Zagreb, Lokomotiv Moscow, Genoa, Sassuolo, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan and Olympiacos.
