Oleg Fedorchuk, a famous coach and expert, said what he thinks about the potential and strengths of the defender/midfielder of London "Arsenal" and the Ukrainian national team Oleksandr Zinchenko.
- Why earlier Guardiola and now Arteta put Zinchenko at the left-back position, and in the national team under all coaches he plays central midfielder?
- It all depends on the availability of players in certain areas. Zinchenko does not quite have the skills that are needed for a central midfielder. First of all, it is dynamic work and anthropometry.
- Vitaliy Mikolenko fell out of Everton's starting lineup in recent matches, before that he was treated for a cold. Maybe Ruslan Rotanu should try Zinchenko at the left back position in the match against England?
- I believe that if the player on the left is brilliant, it is better not to move him, and find someone easier in the center. But there are coaches who think differently. There is a good example.
Maradona in Argentina thought Messi would be good as a playmaker at point guard. Everyone knows how that ended. Scaloni, on the other hand, uses Messi as a forward as he plays at PSG. He became world champion and won the Ballon d'Or thanks to that. Club coaches know much better where to use players.
But against England we need to put Mikolenko in defense. Zinchenko on the left should play against weaker opponents.
- At what position does Zinchenko look better: on the left in defense (Arsenal) or as a central midfielder (Ukraine national team)?
- Zinchenko looks much better on the flank, as Arteta uses him. At Arsenal he plays defender with a shift to the center, at Man City he started as a central midfielder, then became a left-back. Over the years, he has changed positions several times - a versatile player.
- Zinchenko scored only one goal in five years in the APL, gave not many assists, but the Canaries fans twice named him player of the month, the English press and the players praised him, calling him the top. What is the phenomenon of Zinchenko?
- Zinchenko is a real leader, although outwardly he does not look like one. He manages the rhythm of the game, he feels it and has the charisma of a leader. His job is to change the direction of the offense and keep the ball. In addition, he dramatically increased in one-on-one tackling, started winning balls at the top.
- Do you think Zinchenko is a top player? Is he the best left defender in the world?
- Any player of the top 5 clubs in the APL is a world-class player. If you take the functions he performs at Arsenal, then Zinchenko is the best in the world. But the standard left-back has to play all over the line, and he doesn't do that. Now soccer has become much more complicated. Zinchenko can not be considered a classic defender, when defending, he is a left-back, and when attacking - a central support. Zinchenko has an amazing soccer intelligence.
