A well-known soccer functionary and former president of Borispol "Borispol" Ihor Kovalevich commented on the defeat of the Ukrainian national team against England (0:2) in yesterday's match of the qualifying round of Euro 2024.

gIor Kovalevich

"Frankly, on Friday, leaving work in the evening, I asked my colleague what he thought about Sunday's match of our national team with England. His answer did not surprise me at all: "It's good, if they lose only 0-3.

I'm almost sure that the majority of people who love, understand and support soccer were of the same opinion. I mean primarily our Ukrainian soccer.

And there`s nothing surprising about that!

It is impossible to expect something good and positive when for years we do not have a head coach of the national team. When for many months our national team hasn't gathered together, hasn't had a single training camp, hasn't had a single match for that time.

And this despite the fact that our current national team has a really good staff potential. It is not only those same Zinchenko, Mikolenko, Malinovskyy, Tsygankov, Mudrik, who play in major European championships, and even more so, who are the leading players in their clubs today. But there are also such talented and experienced players with invaluable experience in the most prestigious European tournament like the Champions League, Trubin, Matvienko, Stepanenko, Sobol. The same Yaremchuk, by the way.

Today's match is the best proof of that.

It seems there are players, but there is no team. There is no thought in the game, no dedication on the field, play through the ball. Not a single shot on goal during the whole game, not to mention any small moments at the gates of opponents. None of this was even close!

And this despite the fact that the English played against us, as it seemed to me, at half strength, not giving 100% on the field, as it usually happens in their domestic league.

I don't understand what kind of manager you have to be not to see all that! DON'T UNDERSTAND! I mean the first managers of our soccer," Kovalevich wrote on his Facebook page.
