In the 24th minute, Aston Villa's O. Watkins opened the scoring with an accurate shot past Kasper Schmeichel. Leicester fought back and equalized in the 35th minute thanks to the efforts of H. Barnes. The second half began with Leicester receiving consecutive yellow cards for T. Castagna and C. Dewsbury-Hall in the 54th and 64th minutes respectively. Unfortunately for Leicester, Dewsbury-Hall was shown a second yellow card in the 70th minute, leading to his removal from the game.

Aston Villa on the field as well, making four substitutions in the 79th, 85th and 87th minutes. J. Ramsey, A. Moreno, A. Young and L. Bailey came on instead of J. Durand, L. Dinier, K. Chambers and B. Traore respectively. The substitutions made by Aston Villa proved to be decisive in the game as Traore scored the winning goal in the 87th minute, ensuring the visiting team all three points. The match was full of excitement, but in the end it was Aston Villa's day with a hard-fought victory away from home. With this result, they moved up the Premier League standings, while Leicester will be disappointed with a home defeat. Regardless, it was a game that provided plenty of entertainment for soccer fans and will be talked about for a long time to come.
