French Le Monde reported that cases have been opened against UAF President Andrei Pavelko not only in Ukraine, but also in Switzerland.
"Mr. Pavelko is accused by the prosecutor of the canton of Jura (Switzerland) of "threats, attempted coercion and private corruption." The trial will take place on October 12 in the court of Porrentruy (canton of Jura). Pavelko is suspected of pressuring and threatening Swiss investigative journalist Arnaud Beda in connection with Mr. Pavelko's 2018 exposé in the Swiss magazine L'Illustré.
The defendant has already asked a relative to offer Mr. Beda 50,000 euros in cash to settle with the latter in civil proceedings," the source writes.
- We hope for an exemplary verdict, because this is a qualified, characteristic, extremely serious attack on press freedom," said Giorgio Campa, lawyer for Arnaud Beda and L'Illustré. - Even if the presumption of innocence must be respected, institutions must demonstrate exemplary behavior and ethics beyond all suspicion. At the same time, Pavelko is running for UEFA, and we do not understand this political support.
Главное, что бы был обвинительный приговор! Это закончит его карьеру и избавимся наконец то от него!
