Real Sociedad earned an important 2-0 victory over Getafe in a match played at the Real Arena. The home side dominated the game from start to finish and the score deservedly reflected their superiority. Both teams showed aggressive soccer in the first half, with Real Sociedad's A. Guevara and Getafe's L. Miglia getting yellow cards during the 5th and 20th minutes respectively. Just before halftime, Real Sociedad had a great opportunity to take the lead from the penalty spot, but Mikel Oyarzabal missed. However, Oyarzabal quickly redeemed himself by scoring in the 45th minute, giving his team a much-needed lead before the second half. At the beginning of the second half, Real Sociedad made their first substitution, replacing A. Illarramendi with A. Guevara.
The substitution quickly bore fruit as Real Sociedad doubled their lead and Takefusa Kubo scored in the 60th minute, infuriating the home crowd. The hosts continued to put pressure on Getafe, forcing them to make a flurry of substitutions in the 72nd minute - David Suarez, Munir El Haddadi and N. Maksimovic came on instead of K. Allen, J. Iglesias and G. Villar respectively. Real Sociedad continued to dominate the game and in the 79th minute Illarramendi received a yellow card. Real Sociedad manager Imanol Alguacil made two more substitutions in the 84th minute - D. Silva and B. Mendez came on instead of Momo and A. Elustondo respectively. Getafe's last substitution came in the 86th minute: B. Majoral came on instead of J. Seoane. Getafe did it too late, however, as Real Sociedad held on for a clean point and a comfortable 2-0 win. Thanks to this win, Real Sociedad moved up in the La Liga standings, while Getafe remained in the bottom half. Overall, Real Sociedad dominated from start to finish, and the final score reflected their superiority on the day.
