Federico Valverde may receive a 6-month ban

Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde could face a long-term ban for attacking Villarreal player Alex Baena, reports AS.

According to the source, the Spanish State Commission to Combat Violence, Racism, Xenophobia and Intolerance in Sport will hold a meeting to review the situation in the event of receiving relevant materials from the police.

Two documents will be considered at the hearing: a medical report detailing the beatings and a police complaint about Valverde's actions. Criminal proceedings are imminent if the claim is not withdrawn, and the case may be limited to a fine if the injury is found to be minor, i.e. not requiring surgery or treatment.

Interestingly, the commission may refer the case to the Royal Spanish Football Federation. This organization can suspend Valverde for a period of 2 to 4 matches, or it can decide on its own punishment, for example, a ban on attending sporting events for 6 months.

We will remind that after the match between "Real" and "Villarreal", Federico Valverde waited at the bus stop for Alex Baena and hit the Spaniard in the face. The Uruguayan did this because the 21-year-old midfielder made offensive comments about Valverde's family, including his unborn son. Alex Baena submitted an application to the police.
