"... And why then the UAF refereeing committee is headed by a pensioner from Italy?", - the expert

Well-known football functionary, former president of Borisfen Boryspil, Igor Kovalevich, touched upon the decadent state of the Ukrainian judiciary, to which the UAF has brought him under its current leadership.

Igor Kovalevich

"A couple of days ago, I accidentally came across information that Ukrainian football referees do not fall into not only the top group of European referees who have the right to serve matches of national European teams or club European cups with the participation of leading European teams and clubs, but also matches lower level - the first group.

If I'm not mistaken, only six Ukrainian referees got into the second group, which in rare cases allows them to receive appointments in the early stages of the playoffs of the Europa League and the Conference League. And this is a completely different level...

Naturally, the question arises, why then the UAF refereeing committee is headed by a pensioner from Italy? (Luciano Rays - ed.) Moreover, not so long ago they signed a new contract with him for several years with a very solid fee!

And then there is the so-called curator, also from the same sunny Italy, who has no less substantial fee than the head of the judging committee himself. And if this so-called curator still has some authority and professional achievements on the path of football arbitration, then for what such achievements, in violation of all statutory norms, a new contract was signed with the head of the UAF refereeing committee, and even with such a solid, financially, by contract?

At one time, I recall, the Football Federation focused on attracting former players to football arbitration who had recently completed their football careers in master teams. Such an initiative of the football federation was aimed at significantly increasing the level of football arbitration. After all, these referees perfectly felt the game itself, were well versed in situations on the football field, and most importantly, they had authority among the players of both teams. After all, most of them not only performed at the highest level as players, but also made a name for themselves!

And then... Children came, the so-called dynasty. Moreover, this concerned, first of all, those referees who themselves did not have enough stars from the sky, and, to be honest, by and large, they had little to do with football itself.

I have no desire to offend anyone, but if you look at most of the current referees serving the matches of both the Ukrainian Premier League and the first and second leagues, I am sure that people who are well versed in football, who understand the game itself, are unlikely to name at least a couple of referees that will be worthy of their attention.

In principle, like the players themselves on the football field...”, Kovalevich wrote on his page on the social network Facebook.
