"Discussion of the possibility of holding" - the current status of the Cup of Ukraine-2023/24 in the UAF

The UAF decided to clarify the situation with the Ukrainian Cup, which has not yet started this season. However, we provide each fan, based on the information below, to independently draw a conclusion (or at least an assumption) about whether the next season's Cup of Ukraine will take place.

“A meeting of the Directorate for holding the Cup of Ukraine was held at the Football House, at which the possibility of holding a tournament in the 2023/2024 season was discussed.

The meeting of the Directorate, chaired by UAF First Vice-President Oleg Protasov, was attended, in particular, by UPL Executive Director Yevhen Dykyy and PFL President Oleksandr Kadenko. Among other things, during the meeting, information was heard on the formation of a draft calendar of competitions among professional teams for the next season, which provides for dates for the Cup of Ukraine," the message says. UAF official website.

The UAF also summarized the situation with the Cup of Ukraine-2021/22 and the Cup of Ukraine-2022/23.

“Recall that the Cup of Ukraine-2021/2022 was suspended at the 1/4 final stage due to the start of a full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine. Later, when it was decided to resume competitions among professional teams, in particular, and to hold a special championship 2022/2023 under martial law, the issue of the Cup of Ukraine in the 2022/2023 season was not considered.

At the same time, before the winter off-season, in December, the leadership of the UPL and PFL conducted a survey of clubs to find out their position on the possibility of resuming the cup tournament in the second part of the season. Most of the UPL clubs did not support this idea at that time, primarily due to the complicated logistics of moving teams and organizing matches in the conditions of a full-scale war, as well as due to the lack of a sufficient number of free dates in the calendar of matches of the Ukrainian championship, ”explains the UAF
