Former UAF employee Volodymyr Chorno-Ivanov spoke to about the information that a friendly match between the national teams of Germany and Ukraine will take place in June this year.
"On March 13 of this year, the news appeared that "The national team of Ukraine will play a friendly match with Germany on June 13".
Meanwhile, I would like to note that the holding of international friendly matches of national teams of national football associations of FIFA members is subject to several official FIFA documents. In particular, we are talking about:
- Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players (March 2023)
- Men's international match calendar 2023-2030
- Fixed dates for international "A" matches
- Regulations Governing International Matches (2014).
According to Annex 1 of the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players, which governs the call-up of players to national football associations, representative teams will play two matches during the international window in the territory of the same confederation. Quote from the source: "Representative teams shall play the two matches within an international window on the territory of the same confederation" (Article 5, paragraph 1 of the Principles of Men's Football, p. 57).
If we look at the current Men's international match calendar 2023-2030, we see that a maximum of two matches are scheduled for the period June 12-20.
Now it remains to turn to the calendar of matches for the UEFA Euro 2024 qualifiers in Group C, where the national team of Ukraine plays. On Friday, June 16, we play a match against North Macedonia. Then, on Monday, June 19, Ukraine will play Malta. Thus, our national team "A" plays the same two matches in June that are allowed by the above-mentioned official FIFA documents. Where is the place for the third game in this story?
In my opinion, the answer is obvious. This match cannot take place without violating the existing FIFA rules. I think that the probability that the DFB (Deutscher Fußball-Bund) could take such a step is zero. Or is FIFA ready to make an exception for us?" Chorno-Ivanov wrote on his Know-Nothing in Football telegram channel.
