According to the source, the Argentine is now the main contender for the post. Previously, Julian Nagelsmann was considered the main candidate, but the club could not reach an agreement with the German. Luis Enrique is also no longer a candidate. Chelsea's shortlist also includes Vincent Kompany, who coaches Burnley.

Pochettino has already held several rounds of talks on Chelsea. Their outcome is unknown. The club was already in talks with him even before the appointment of Graham Potter. The current acting head coach is Frank Lampard. He has replaced Potter who was fired.

The 51-year-old's last club was PSG, which he left in 2022. He has also coached Tottenham, Southampton and Espanyol.
