Sampdoria hosted La Spezia at the Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris in a Serie A match that ended in a tight draw. The home side got off to a strong start when B. Amione opened the scoring in the 23rd minute with a lucky strike that forced the visitors to rush into the chase. La Spezia made a change to their lineup with D. Verde replacing D. Maldini in the 30th minute. The substitution gave the team some much-needed energy, and it didn't take long before Verde equalized in the 59th minute to start a tense second half. K. Gunter was sent off in the 67th minute and Sampdoria responded with two quick substitutions to try and turn the tide. J. Murillo was replaced by F. Djuricic in the 72nd minute and S. Lammers came on in place of Hese at the same time.
In the 73rd minute, La Spezia player S. Bastoni received a yellow card, which led to new substitutions on both sides. Sampdoria released B. Amione in place of M. Oikonoma in the 78th minute, and shortly after that H. Winks came out instead of E. Ilhan. Spezia also made a few changes: M. Burabia replaced C. Agudelo in the 79th minute, and A. Reka came on in place of S. Bastoni. In the final stretch of the match, both sides continued to struggle, but neither could break through the opponent's defense. At the 90th minute La Spezia made two more substitutions: D. Nicolaou came on instead of M. Caldara and A. Ekdal replaced V. Kovalenko. The final whistle sounded with the score tied at 1-1, and both sides took away with them the points earned in a tense struggle in an entertaining match. Despite the draw, both Sampdoria and La Spezia will be drawing strength from the solid performances they delivered on the pitch and will be keen to build on those results and keep climbing up the Serie A standings.
