Newcastle United defeated Tottenham Hotspur thanks to some incredible play in the first half, winning 6-1 in a Premier League match at St. James Park. At halftime, the score was 5-0 in favor of the Magpies, and Spurs could not find any answer. It was a fantastic start for Newcastle as Jacob Murphy gave them the lead on the second minute with a brilliant goal. Four minutes later, Joelinton doubled their lead with a clever strike, and Murphy scored his second goal in the ninth minute. The onslaught continued and Alexander Isak scored twice in the 19th and 21st minutes, making the score 5-0. Tottenham was stunned and could do nothing in response. The Spurs manager made a substitution, replacing defender Davinson Sanchez with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the 23rd minute, but it made little difference. The visitors continued to struggle, with Dejan Kulusevski and Oliver Skipp receiving yellow cards in the first half.
The second half began with Tottenham captain Hugo Llauris replacing Foster in goal. The substitution seemed to work, as Harry Kane scored one goal just four minutes into the second half. Newcastle immediately responded with two quick substitutions, producing Callum Wilson and Miguel Almiron in place of Isak and Murphy. Wilson scored within a minute of taking the field. In the 70th minute, Newcastle made two more substitutions with Bruno Guimaraes and Kieran Trippier, while Tottenham released Arnaut Danjuma in place of Kulusevski. Christian Romero was sent off for a foul in the 74th minute, and a minute later Newcastle released Fabian Schar in place of Jamal Laskelles. Tottenham substituted Son Heung-Min in the 83rd minute to replace Richarlison. Despite conceding a goal in the second half, Newcastle secured all three points after a superb first-half performance.
