Former Mariupol defender Bogdan Butko commented the news that the name of his former club will now be worn by the Brazilian "Batel".

"Football gave me everything I have. And I know how much soccer lost in that year. "Mariupol is a club I identify with, which was part of my professional career, and which ceased to exist because of the war. But it wasn't the end.

Today, "Mariupol" brings back hope with its colors in soccer country. I thank Batel and the entire Ukrainian diaspora in Brazil for hosting Mariupol, a team to which I am very attached. This is a new chapter in our history," Butko told Mariupol Lives.
