Former head coach and player of the Ukrainian national team Andriy Shevchenko told CBSsports about the qualities of Alexander Zinchenko.
Andrey Shevchenko- Zinchenko is charisma, determination, responsibility, passion. He is a leader. He sets an example. He easily handles the ball, he has a very good technique, and he was not afraid to take responsibility, even when he first started. You could see right away that he had a different, natural quality from everyone else: technique, movement and confidence.
He has developed and grown, he is the captain of the Ukrainian national team, one of the best left defenders this season. He earned it all with his passion for soccer, his discipline, his desire and ambition. He is very smart and can play different positions on the field, both left back and center back. We saw him do it many times at Manchester City, he did the same at Arsenal. It's a natural quality, he's very good technically, he's very clever, he moves, he always finds the right position to pass the ball. It's very, very, very nice to see.
He knows he can do so many roles. He can change quite easily during the game. The structure of the Arsenal game is very clear, every player knows his position, and when you win or lose the ball, Alex works so fast because he's a smart player.
He takes every opportunity to remind everyone of the war. He gets attention. He speaks well. He created his foundation through which we support many different projects in Ukraine. You should be very proud of what he has done and what he is doing," Shevchenko said.
