Lampard: "When people hear that I make excuses for players, it's far from the truth"

Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard commented on the fans' whistling after the 0-2 defeat to Brentford in the 33rd round of the English Championship.

"Haven't you watched Brentford's games in the last two or three seasons? Didn't you see them go and beat Manchester City at the beginning of the season?

Our fans are used to success in the last 20 years. I have no problem with them booing the players. I'm not sitting here to stand up to the fans and say: "Don't boo them". I defend the players because I know they are young guys who want to succeed. Is there a problem with confidence? Yes, there is. Is there a problem with the team's balance? Perhaps, yes. That's why when I hear that I'm making excuses for the players, it's far from the case," Lampard was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

It should be noted that this is Chelsea's fifth defeat in a row under Frank Lampard.
