Former Ukraine striker Ivan Getsko has shared his impressions of the Euro 2024 qualifying match England v Ukraine (2-0).
"The national team has to be at its highest level of play, but it was nowhere near there on 26 March at Wembley. I can't recall such a national team match - no aggression, no pressure, no sharpness, no strikes, no corners. Ruslan Malinovskyy could shoot on goal 4-5 times in the Italian league, but here he did not do it even once in the whole game.
I have big questions to the squad. Why Artem Dovbik, UPL`s leading scorer, played only 16 minutes? Roman Yaremchuk, who had so little practice at Brugge, was the centre forward instead. Yevhen Konoplyanka has long since disappeared in the Polish league, but he also came on as a substitute. I hope that this is not the case, but from the outside the meeting resembled a bargain - we give the game away, but you do not destroy us, beat us with an unashamed result," said Getsko.
