Igor Tsyganyk: "If Dynamo had played poorly against Shakhtar, this match could have been Lucescu's last as coach"

The famous Ukrainian TV presenter Igor Tsyganik has told on the air of the programme Tsyganik Live that the duel against Shakhtar (1-1) in the 22nd round of the Ukrainian championship could have been the last one for Mircea Lucescu as the coach of Dynamo.

"Had Dynamo played unsuccessfully in that match (not even in the sense of the result, but the manner, the nature of the game itself would have been unsuccessful for the Kyivians), it is possible that this encounter against Shakhtar could have been Mircea Lucescu's last as the head coach.

And it would not have been a management decision. It would have been some kind of middle ground, it came from the coach himself. I talked to Lucescu after the game. He was very pleased with the young players' performance, he saw their character. So he confessed frankly. He said: "I wanted to see that character and I have seen it. The guys did not give up after that unlucky goal, fought for their partner (Nesheret), tried to save the game. They succeeded, and this is very good for a young team. A lot of players have left us and we have to let in those who don't have the same stability as the experienced players.

But Lucescu was very happy. I saw his eyes, I talked to him. I have known Lucescu for a very long time and I understand how he can be. He was pleased that the team guessed about his operation and played this match for him somewhere," said Tsyganyk
